We believe that diverse communities are healthy communities and are committed to building a park that is truly inclusive of all members of our society. We are working hard to make sure that all sectors of the Petaluma community have a meaningful voice in the planning process. To this end, we’ve teamed up with Sonoma Land Trust to build a coalition of local mission-aligned organizations to help develop a robust community engagement plan to inform and guide the park’s design and development.

Community Engagement Coalition:

ArtStart, Café Puente, Daily Acts, Downtown Streets Team, Friends of the Petaluma River, LandPaths, North Bay Organizing Project, Petaluma Arts Center, Petaluma Bounty, Petaluma Community Relations Council, Petaluma Health Center, Point Blue Conservation Science and Sonoma Resource Conservation District.

Together these organizations will focus their knowledge and expertise on the cornerstones that reflect the Park’s vision and values:

  • Equity & Inclusion

  • Education & Recreation

  • Art & Culture

  • Environment & Sustainability

To get the job done, we’ve brought on two Project Associates to help steer the planning process. Kicking off in March 2021, our coalition members will continue to work together with the Petaluma River Park Foundation’s Community Engagement Steering Committee to develop an actionable plan to garner deep and meaningful community participation in the development of the park’s design.
